MUKAMAS2026 – International Puppet Theatre Festival’s diverse programme also includes many free events. Free performances will be performed at the Laikku Culture House.
Children’s Sunday will be held in the Teatteri Mukamas’ yard on 20 September. The event will include fun activities and tent performances for the whole family. Interesting adventures are also expected at the Henner Play Activity Centre.
Baby theater and a homely atmosphere at the Culture House Laikku
During the MUKAMAS2026 festival week, September 16-20, three free performances are performed at Culture House Laikku. These performances have limited capacity, so please register well in advance. Reservations can be made from Tuesday, September 1. from 9:00 a.m. at Mukamas’ Ticketshop.
Baby and Toddler Theatre AEIOU’s performance Rakkaus (Love) is based on children’s thoughts and experiences of different manifestations of love. Originally founded in Slovenia, AEIOU creates colorful and participatory theatre for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
Baby theater is also offered by the festival’s organizer Teatteri Mukamas with its beloved show Satuvarjo alla: Pikku-Siili. The gentle and warm performance is well suited for a first theater experience.
Nirunaru Puppet Theatre‘s poetry-filled Kotini on… is a performance for the whole family about home, construction and life in the company of houses. The Tampere-based Nirunaru is known for its strong connection to the library world and its vivid cultural heritage.
Children’s Sunday fills the Mukamas yard with fun activities
Festival Sunday 20.9. is also Children’s Sunday. The event tent in the yard of Teatteri Mukamas will host two acts from the cheerfully jamming Kesäjuhlat performance. In addition, there will be various activity stations in the area, including face painting, coloring puppets and a hobby horse riding ring. The waffle bar will be open throughout the event.
In the courtyard of the Henner Play Activity Center, you can visit the installation Making kin with microbes installation. The installation offers a playful, imaginative, and research-based journey into the large intestine. The whole family is welcome to explore the installation during opening hours. Gut Gardeners will be present to offer guidance in English and Finnish when needed.
