MUKAMAS2026 – CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME DELIGHTS ALL AGES

25.08.2026

MUKAMAS2026 – The International Puppet Theatre Festival’s Children’s programme will once again offer high-quality and insightful puppet theatre that will charm even older viewers. It will feature international star performances and Finnish puppeteer masters with a long history. The Festival will be held in Tampere from 16 to 20 September. The event’s diverse programme will feature visually impressive performances for both children and adults, using modern puppetry techniques.

International performances feature children’s own ideas,
forest creatures, projectors and acrobatics

Icelandic artist Aude Busson‘s performance Manndýr has toured theaters and schools in Iceland, France, and Norway. The collage-like soundscape features Finnish children’s thoughts on life’s big questions. It is typical of Busson’s works that the audience is not just watching the performance but becomes part of the work. Children and their perspectives play a particularly important role.

Theatre group XZART arrives from France with their adorable animal characters. The performance Hedgehog and Bear takes you deep into the forest to meet the furry creatures. The skillful storytelling alternates between fun and action and more sensitive themes.

The internationally acclaimed Company Portmanteau tells the story of three little dots using acrobatics and overhead projectors. In the performance Piste, piste, piste the performers create a dynamic and poetic environment that leaves room for children’s own imagination and interpretations.
