MUKAMAS 2024 – International Puppet Theatre Festival will take place from 11 to 15 September in Tampere. Now is a unique opportunity to see top performances for adults and children from Canada, France, Germany, Slovenia and Denmark. Four of the international performances will have their Finnish premiere at the festival! The shows have delightful creativity, unexpectedness and sense of adventure. There will be something completely different than what usually comes to mind from a puppet theatre.
Canadian La Fille du Laitier dazzles with its interpretation of Macbeth
Canadian La Fille du Laitier visits in Finland for the first time. Creative and innovative theatre does e.g. new adaptations of classics, of which Macbeth Muet, which arrives at the festival, is a perfect example. There will be no traditional Shakespeare or traditional puppet theatre, when the duo of two top performers conquer the Hällä stage with their speechless performance. Surprising humour and an impressive soundscape spice up the delicious soup. The carefully choreographed story of the cursed couple is presented in a way that splashes and exhilarates.
German Karoline Hoffmann makes a trip inside the rescue blanket
In the performance Ding, the German actress Karoline Hoffmann uses her whole body, voice and light in an unexpected way. Small gold chips form an enchanting whole, and the opening of the rescue blanket leads to a journey into the unknown. The wordless piece, suitable for both adults and children, will have its Finnish premiere at Teatteri Mukamas and Hällä stage.
Sweet children’s adventures from Denmark and France
Theatre Madam Bach creates a poetically sensitive world of theatre with its children’s performances. In the performance You are here, the Danish couple Pernille Bach and Christian Schrøder weave together a story in a world full of musical instruments, paper pictures, maps, stones and wonderful objects. Live music and projections complete this delightful show for little, curious minds. The show has two performances at the Finlayson.
French theatre group Xzart is a familiar, beloved guest at Teatteri Mukamas, but now we are seeing their performance The Snowman who Wanted to Meet the Sun for the first time, where endearing puppet characters have adventures in the wonderland of winter and friendship. The performance suitable for all ages can be seen at Teatteri Mukamas, and is a true gift for the eyes, ears and heart!
