MUKAMAS 2024 – International Puppet Theatre Festival 25 years: Children’s Programme
MUKAMAS 2024 – International Puppet Theatre Festival takes place from 11 to 15 September in Tampere. The festival opens a window to international puppet theatre, and its versatility is staggering. Children’s performances will be seen in addition to national puppet theatres from France, Germany, Slovenia and Denmark, three of which will have their premiere in Finland. There are ten children’s performances at the festival, and during the festival week there are up to 22 events for children.
Little big adventures in International Programme for Children
The performance The Snowman Who Wanted To Meet the Sun by the French theatre group XZART is a gift for the eyes, ears and heart! In the story, which will be premiered in Finland, endearing characters adventure through the wonderland of winter and friendship.
German Karoline Hoffmann’s play with a golden rescue blanket is a journey into the unknown. The delightfully sensual Ding performance uses the body, material, sound and light.
Slovenian theatre Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana is coming to Tampere with no less than two performances! Suitable for children, Tunnel is a special kind of atmospheric piece that explores the play of darkness and light. Can you see the darkness? Does light have color?
The Danish Theatre Madam Bach offers the little ones the enchanting adventure You are here. With a girl on her quest to the baker and back again, we navigate through a forest of signs and use the stars to guide us across the sea. At the end of the performance, the spectators are welcome on stage for a workshop.
National long-running theatres visit in Tampere
Puppet Theatre Sampo, which has been operating in Helsinki since 1977, comes to the festival with a musical performance The Bunny and the Miraculous Cloud. The warm show for the whole family features cute little animal puppets, nursery rhymes, songs and live music.
Long-running puppet theatre from Espoo Teatteri Hevosenkenkä visits Tampere’s Hällä stage with performance Konna ja Konstaapeli Kerttu. A fun and exciting show will delight the whole family!
On the festival sunday, there will also be Teatteri Mukamas’ baby theatre performance Satuvarjon alla: Pikku-Siili in the Media 54 space of the Finlayson area, and Hölmölän kylä performance at the Haihara’s puppet theatre.
The 25th anniversary festival MUKAMAS 2024 offers a gentle stream of consciousness, fun events for all ages and unique opportunities to see great international performances.
